About the artist

My name is Kanako Heinrichs.   I am an artist, illustrator, mom and a long-term rabbit lover.  I hope you enjoy looking at my paintings.  I am all about creating paintings that are colourful, thoughtful and a little magical.

I have a BA in Art & Design from University of Alberta and have been participating in numerous juried group shows and solo shows in British Columbia and Alberta, Canada.

Many of my recent work have been inspired by my surroundings, and I am actively involved in the community where I live.  My clients include Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society, Steveston Historical Society and Tourism Richmond.

I enjoy working with different media but my favourite are acrylic gouache, acrylic and oil... and ink!

I paint in my "tiny studio" in a quaint little fishing village called Steveston, Canada.  When I am not painting, I can be found riding my cargo bike around the village (I am living an almost car-free life)  or having afternoon tea with my two little girls.

I love painting and I equally love seeing my illustration on products like stationary and fabric!  But my ultimate goal since my childhood is to become a children's book author/illustrator and publish many books until the day I am so old I can't lift my paintbrush!
